Leibniz Graduate School for Empirical Research in Adult Education

The Leibniz Graduate School for Empirical Research in Adult Education (LGS) is an interdisciplinary orientated Graduate School in Germany. It supports the professionalization of recent university graduates as well as professionally experienced junior researchers.

For graduates in educational sciences and other social sciences the LGS provides the opportunity to graduate as PhD within a structured study programme. The LGS supports individual empirical research projects which settle at the interface between basic and application research, focusing the organisation and development of cooperative educational arrangements, such as projects, initiatives, educational programmes etc. which are organized and driven by two or more institutional partners.

The LGS is a joint activity of the German Institute for Adult Education – Leibniz Centre for Lifelong Learning in Bonn and the Philipps-Universität Marburg, Institut für Erziehungswissenschaft. Cooperation partner is the Universität Duisburg-Essen, Institut für Berufs- und Weiterbildung (ibw). The LGS is funded by the German federal government and the German states within the "Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation".

The timeframe is three years, from October 2010 until September 2013.
