Research Profile

Empirical research in the Leibniz Graduate School for Empirical Research in Adult Education (LGS) refers to the central organisational challenge in Adult Education of today, which is the creation of new learning opportunities with respect to quality standards, market conditions, and economic efficiency. One prominent answer to this challenge is the implementation of cooperative educational arrangements, i.e. educational initiatives, projects, programmes and services, which are collaboratively created and managed by two or more institutions or actors. Empirical research in the LGS focuses the organisation and development of cooperative educational arrangements in Adult Education.

The research profile covers three main interests:

  1. Organisation and coordination: The emphasis lies on organisational and network analyses, which give relevant insights to constellations of actors, process management, organisational culture and coordinating processes in cooperative educational arrangements.
  2. Innovative learning opportunities and learning culture:Empirical research focuses pedagogical aspects, such as pedagogical concepts, educational services, teaching, marketing concepts and participation structures, which qualify the benefits of cooperative educational arrangements, i.e. launching innovative learning opportunities and developing learning cultures.
  3. Development strategies: The emphasis lies on empirical analyses of forms and features, methods and instruments of strategic educational management within cooperative educational arrangements and sustainable business concepts.
