Study Programme
The study programme of the Leibniz Graduate School for Empirical Research in
Adult Education (LGS) supports the professionalization of recent university
graduates as well as professionally experienced junior researchers, focusing
- acquisition of knowledge for empirical research in the field of Adult
Education
- increase of methodical knowledge
- acquisition of key competencies for further professional work and
development

International Lecture on essentials of Adult and
Continuing Education in Europe
Workshops for paper based intensive discussions on
specific topics and for the improvement of skills for scientific empirical
research
Summer Schools for deepened discussions on theoretical
and methodical topics and for the improvement of dissertations
Colloquia for continuous development of doctoral theses
Coordination of Places of Work
The coordination of the places of work, Bonn and Marburg, is managed with
regard to efficiency for the members of the LGS. As possible, workshops,
summer schools and colloquia will take place in Bonn. Courses which take
place in Marburg will be blocked.
Study Visit Abroad
The members of the Graduate School should become insiders of the European
scientific community. According to their dissertation themes they should
absolve a one-semester study visit abroad. The contacts with foreign experts
of empirical research in the field of Adult Education are to be deepened by
the school members afterwards, e.g. by planning and realizing an
international conference.
